5.8 magnitude earthquake hits Peru, damaging buildings and injuring 27
A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Pacific region of southern Peru, injuring 27 people and damaging buildings, according to officials.
No deaths were reported as a result of the earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey located the earthquake's epicenter 20 kilometers east-southeast of Pampa de Tate in the Ica region at a depth of 56.5 kilometers.
Peruvian Defense Minister Amadeo Flores visited the city of Ica and inspected damaged buildings, including San Luis Gonzaga University.
