A shallow earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck northwestern Qinghai early on Wednesday, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said.
It said the tremor struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, in Haixi Prefecture at 5.36 am.
The US Geological Survey registered the tremor at a magnitude of 5.9.
No casualties were immediately reported. (Agencies)

Earthquake in China A low-deep earthquake of magnitude 5.9 shook the central Chinese province of Qinghai on Wednesday morning, reported the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
