5.5x the limit: Driver had potentially deadly BAC, troopers say
Troopers say the driver registered a 0.441 blood-alcohol concentration, more than 5 times the legal limit, after refusing to stop and crashing.
On June 27, Arizona Highway Patrol troopers arrested a driver after receiving 911 calls regarding an impaired motorist on a Phoenix highway; the tan Subaru crashed into a wall before troopers made the stop.
Troopers described the driver as "behaving very impaired" and found an alcohol bottle in the cupholder; investigation revealed a BAC of 0.441, more than 5 times the legal limit.
According to the National Library of Medicine, a blood-alcohol level of 0.31% or higher is "especially dangerous and may even be fatal," a threshold the driver significantly exceeded.
Facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, the driver was the subject of an Arizona Highway Patrol post stating, "Girl, this just isn't the post-brunch vibe."
In a final message, Arizona Highway Patrol warned, "You have plenty of options for your midday ride home after day drinking. Day drinking in your car is not one of them.
