49ers LB Dre Greenlaw Ejected After Head-Butting a Seahawks Player
Greenlaw was disqualified after a late hit on Sam Darnold sparked a sideline scuffle, leaving Ernest Jones IV bleeding, officials said.
On Sunday, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected from the game against the Seattle Seahawks after headbutting Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV during a sideline altercation in Seattle.
The incident began in the second quarter when Greenlaw hit Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold out of bounds, drawing an unnecessary roughness penalty before players surrounded him on the sideline.
Greenlaw recorded 3 tackles before leaving the game; rookie Jaden Dugger replaced him at weak side linebacker while veteran Luke Gifford shifted positions on the San Francisco defense.
ESPN's Brady Henderson reported the ejection occurred after "a bunch of pushing and shoving" broke out on the Seahawks' sideline, removing a key physical defender from San Francisco's defense.
This marks the third career ejection for Greenlaw, 29, who was previously disqualified for incidents involving the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
