Massive Voter Roll Survey Launched Across Odisha
The Election Commission of India will use 45,255 Booth Level Officers to verify voters, add new names and remove outdated entries.
Chief Electoral Officer Gopalan launched a Special Intensive Revision drive across Odisha on Friday, deploying 45,255 Booth Level Officers to conduct household verifications through June 28.
To address logical mistakes affecting about 17% of entries, officers will verify existing electors, enroll new voters who have turned 18, and delete names of deceased or shifted persons.
During house-to-house visits, the BLOs will distribute forms with the CEO noting, "People will have to fill out these forms and return them to the BLOs." Officers will also staff booths from 3 to 5 p.m. daily.
Recognizing the need for smooth completion, the CEO appealed to all recognized political parties to appoint a BLA in every booth, noting that about 33,026 agents have been nominated to date.
Following the revision, the draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, 2026, opening a claims and objections period through August 4, with the final voters' list scheduled for September 6, 2026.
