Man Charged with Arranging Fatal Ambush of Microsoft Manager Faces Murder Trial in Florida
Prosecutors say the plot used a tire in the road to lure Jared Bridegan out of his car, and one suspect has been paid at least $10,000.
- On Monday, Mario Fernandez Saldana faces trial in Florida for his alleged role in the 2022 murder-for-hire of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan, becoming the first of three suspects to stand trial for the fatal ambush.
- Investigators allege a monthslong murder-for-hire scheme driven by a contentious custody battle between Bridegan and his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner, with the plot involving a tire placed in the road to lure him from his vehicle.
- Evidence against Fernandez Saldana includes handwritten checks to Henry Tenon and phone records showing more than 60 contacts between the men. Prosecutors also cited GPS data showing Tenon allegedly driving the victim's route as "a practice run of the homicide route."
- While Tenon initially pleaded guilty in March 2023, he retracted his plea in January 2025 and now faces a separate trial. Assistant State Attorney Alan Mizrahi stated, "We know that multiple people were involved," indicating someone else drove the getaway vehicle.
- Shanna Gardner's trial is scheduled for early September, while Tenon faces a separate trial beginning March 29, 2027, as all three suspects remain charged in connection with Bridegan's 2022 ambush.
