Arrest Made in Lower Mainland Shooting
Police said a 32-year-old man was shot and taken to hospital in serious condition as multiple agencies responded to the scene.
- On Tuesday, police responded to reports of shots fired at the Centennial Motel on Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge. A 32-year-old male was hospitalized in serious condition with an apparent gunshot wound but is expected to survive.
- Witnesses described a man barricading himself inside a nearby mobile home during the incident. The standoff came to a peaceful resolution at about 10 p.m., one witness said.
- Limited officers forced Maple Ridge RCMP to request assistance from multiple detachments because of a concurrent "serious incident" at 287 Street and 112 Avenue around the same time.
- Richmond RCMP has taken the lead on the ongoing investigation, with authorities believing the shooting was an isolated incident between known individuals. No arrests have been made, police said.
