Pikachu Goes to Space: Pokémon Launches ESA Collaboration for World Space Week

- The Pokémon Company International is collaborating with the European Space Agency to celebrate World Space Week this October, with Mathieu Galante, senior director of licensing, saying the partnership "opens a new frontier for fans."
- To initiate the collaboration, a Pikachu plushie wearing a spacesuit joined French astronaut Sophie Adenot on the International Space Station, spending 67 days in orbit and completing approximately 1040 revolutions of Earth.
- Temporary exhibitions featuring Pokémon characters will launch at ESA sites across Europe, including ESRIN in Rome and ESTEC in Noordwijk, to teach visitors about European space activities and planetary exploration.
- Players can capture 'Astronaut Pikachu' in Pokémon GO from October 4 to October 10, while The Pokémon Company offers themed merchandise including the space-faring plushie model that orbited Earth.
- While the World Space Week celebration concludes on October 10, the museum tour continues through early 2027, building on the franchise's 30th-anniversary pop-up store hosted at London's National History Museum earlier this year.
