30 from Northampton intervene in suit over divestment from Israel-linked companies

NORTHAMPTON — A group of 30 residents, most of them Jewish, formally filed in court Thursday to fight a lawsuit that seeks to throw out a City Council resolution that urges divestment from Israel. “The recent lawsuit seeks to impose a chilling effect on local movements for justice, and it must be ardently defended against,” Lois Ahrens, one of the proposed intervenors, said in a statement.
