Fiber Broadband Expansion Continues in Whitehall
CULPEPER COUNTY, VIRGINIA, JUL 17 – Culpeper County terminated a delayed contract that failed to connect over 4,000 homes and is now reviewing bids from three providers to bring promised high-speed internet.
- Montana Governor Greg Gianforte and Visionary Broadband CEO Brian Worthen held a ribbon-cutting Wednesday to celebrate Visionary's fiber broadband expansion in Whitehall, Hardin, and Butte.
- The expansion continues after Visionary acquired MTWeb and began new projects to address years of unmet broadband needs for residents and small businesses in these areas.
- Officials gathered to mark completed connectivity in Hardin for 2,077 homes and businesses and ongoing construction in Whitehall, which will connect 543 additional locations this summer.
- Gianforte emphasized that increasing access to dependable, fast internet service and addressing the gap in digital availability continues to be a major state focus, while Worthen highlighted Visionary’s commitment to providing equitable broadband opportunities for all communities.
- The ConnectMT program, funded with about $120 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, supports this expansion, which is expected to improve access to education, jobs, and health care in rural Montana.
