Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin announced that 27 cubic meters of waste were collected from the sea during a 10-day cleanup operation targeting plastic and microplastic pollution along the Mediterranean coast. Stating that severe penalties will be imposed on individuals and institutions responsible for the pollution, Şahin also mentioned that two sea sweepers were brought to Antalya by the Turkish Environmental Agency (TÜÇA).
Governor Hulusi Şahin: "With the sea sweeper, packaging waste, foam, woody materials, and other floating solid waste, especially plastic pieces, are collected from the sea surface and removed from the marine environment in a controlled manner." "A total of 27 cubic meters of waste was collected in the first 10 days of the operation, and the cleaning efforts continue."
