The Investigative Police (PDI) of Chile, in conjunction with the Prosecutor’s Office, carried out a massive operation in Antofagasta, in the north of the country, managing to rescue 19 sexually exploited women, as well as the arrest of 19 foreigners, between Venezuelans and Colombians, and the seizure of more than 540 million Chilean pesos (approximately $563,680) in species and cash. During the proceedings, 22 persons were arrested, most of them from foreigners (Colombians and Venezuelans), and 86 million pesos in cash, 11 vehicles, jewellery and other goods were seized, together with various documentation and electronic devices.
The operation, led by the Attorney General’s Office of High Complexity and the PDI, included raids in different parts of the city, freezing of bank accounts and rescuing some twenty foreign women victims of sexual exploitation.
