2027 Volkswagen ID. Tiguan EV Debuts as ID.4 Replacement
Volkswagen says the new SUV uses the MEB+ platform and offers faster charging, a 15-inch touchscreen and up to 600 kilometres of range.
- Volkswagen introduced the ID. Tiguan on October 9, a new fully electric SUV replacing the ID.4 and ID.5 on the MEB+ platform, arriving in Australia during H1 2027.
- The outgoing ID.4, launched in 2020 and arriving in Australia in 2025, received a $1000 price increase for its base Pro trim before the Tiguan's debut, marking Volkswagen's platform shift.
- Battery options span a 58kWh LFP variant delivering up to 450 km WLTP range to a 210kW rear-wheel-drive model achieving 600 km, with 77kWh versions charging 10 to 80 per cent in 29 minutes via 165kW DC.
- Inside, a standard 10-inch instrument display and new 15-inch touchscreen with app-based interface lead the cabin, while 534 litres of boot space expands to 1577 litres with folded seats and towing reaches 2,000kg.
- Distinctive exterior styling includes bespoke 21-inch R-Line wheels, vertical LED air curtains and an illuminated VW logo light bar, though the rear wiper remains in its original position reflecting design pragmatism.
