The New 2028 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class SUV Follows the CLA-Class Sedan Down Electric Avenue

Mercedes says the compact SUV will use 800V electric power and 48V mild-hybrid engines, with fast charging and up to 2000kg towing.

  • The third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA arrives in mid-2027 as an 'electric-first' vehicle, measuring 4565mm long and 1873mm wide while replacing both the outgoing GLA and EQA.
  • Designers aligned the new model with the second-generation GLB, featuring an oversized grille illuminated via 608 LEDs on electrified variants. Inside, a wall of glass houses a 14.5-inch touchscreen.
  • Drivers choose between a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine or electric variants offering up to 657km in range. A 320kW DC charger adds 270km in just 10 minutes.
  • The electric GLA offers 410 litres of boot capacity and a 107L frunk for storage. The AWD model can tow up to 2000kg using an optional semi-electric tow bar.
  • Australian market specifications will be announced closer to the mid-2027 release following the vehicle's initial launch in Europe. Options include a Sky Control panoramic roof adjusting transparency in 10 to 20 milliseconds.
