The New 2028 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class SUV Follows the CLA-Class Sedan Down Electric Avenue
Mercedes says the compact SUV will use 800V electric power and 48V mild-hybrid engines, with fast charging and up to 2000kg towing.
The third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA arrives in mid-2027 as an 'electric-first' vehicle, measuring 4565mm long and 1873mm wide while replacing both the outgoing GLA and EQA.
Designers aligned the new model with the second-generation GLB, featuring an oversized grille illuminated via 608 LEDs on electrified variants. Inside, a wall of glass houses a 14.5-inch touchscreen.
Drivers choose between a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine or electric variants offering up to 657km in range. A 320kW DC charger adds 270km in just 10 minutes.
The electric GLA offers 410 litres of boot capacity and a 107L frunk for storage. The AWD model can tow up to 2000kg using an optional semi-electric tow bar.
Australian market specifications will be announced closer to the mid-2027 release following the vehicle's initial launch in Europe. Options include a Sky Control panoramic roof adjusting transparency in 10 to 20 milliseconds.
The new Mercedes GLA remains true to its previous form, but offers more space, more modern technology and up to 657 kilometres of range as an electric car.
