2026 BYD Denza Z Convertible steps out as 1000hp Porsche 911 Cabriolet rival
The 2+2 drop-top uses a folding soft top, steer-by-wire steering and magnetorheological suspension as Denza targets premium performance buyers.
- Denza unveiled its 1000hp convertible at the Beijing motor show, featuring a four-seat layout and design derived from the coupe concept revealed in 2025, with 0-100km/h acceleration in less than 2.0 seconds.
- Designed by Wolfgang Egger, former Audi designer now BYD's global design director, the convertible features an electric drivetrain producing more than 1000hp with all-wheel drive while retaining the coupe's buttressed side sills and adding a folding soft-top roof.
- Denza confirmed steer-by-wire steering, magnetorheological suspension, and "predictive road-sensing" technology. The convertible debuts the BYD Blade battery with "flash charging," enabling an 80 percent charge in nine minutes.
- The convertible will make its dynamic public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, though it has not been confirmed for Australia, where it could rival the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore and Porsche.
- Denza and BYD will begin rolling out fast-charging stations in Australia from the final quarter of 2026 to support the new battery technology, which enables charging speeds of up to 1500kW.
