2025 Chery C5: Renamed Chinese SUV starts from $29,990 drive-away
- Chery Australia renamed its facelifted Omoda 5 small SUV to the C5, launching it in May 2025 with prices from $29,990 drive-away.
- The renaming followed a $2000 price increase for the base Urban model and discontinued the top-spec EX variant, reducing buyer options.
- The C5 is offered in Urban and Ultimate trims powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 108kW and 210Nm, with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and multilink rear suspension.
- Standard Urban features include 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, dual 10.25-inch digital screens, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring, while Ultimate adds 18-inch wheels, power tailgate, sunroof, heated seats, and an eight-speaker Sony system.
- By the end of April 2025, a total of 1,837 units of the Omoda 5 had been sold in Australia, making it Chery’s second most popular model as the company prepares to introduce new brands such as Jaecoo.

Beyond the (yet another) confusing rebrand, the re…

This post appeared first on Chasing Cars. Chery’s erstwhile Omoda 5 small SUV has been revamped and rebooted as the ‘C5’ for 2025 and “simplified” into a two-variant model line-up. Why the rebranding? That’s because Chery plans to launch Omoda as its own standalone brand, in line with other markets, in the second half of this year. Competing at the more affordable end of the market, the updated C5 will seek to snatch the attention of buyers lo…
