VARANASI DIVISION, UTTAR PRADESH, AUG 2 – The 20th PM Kisan installment transfers over Rs 20,500 crore to 9.7 crore farmers nationwide, with Rs 2,200 crore committed to infrastructure and cultural projects in Varanasi.
- On August 2, 2025, Modi released over Rs 20,500 crore under the 20th installment of the PM Kisan scheme in Varanasi, crediting nearly 9.7 crore farmers' accounts.
- The PM Kisan scheme provides Rs 2,000 every four months, requiring e-KYC and verifications for disbursement of the Rs 6,000 annual aid.
- Using India’s digital public infrastructure, the scheme ensures transparent, middleman-free payments via Aadhaar, Jan Dhan accounts, and mobile connectivity, officials reported.
- To complement the payments, Modi also inaugurated 52 development projects worth Rs 2,200 crore, including road widening and a new overbridge.
- Looking ahead, the scheme has benefited over 85% of Indian farmers, with total disbursements surpassing Rs 3.90 lakh crore, officials reported.
