2 Police Officers Injured, Suspect Killed During Shooting in Fall River

  • Prosecutors said early Sunday that Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III confirmed a suspect was shot and killed during an officer-involved shooting in Fall River.
  • Earlier that night, officers had stopped Vaughn at Knight's Gas Station on Linden Street and asked him to leave after reports of reckless driving.
  • Officers performed a pat frisk of the suspect, who violently resisted and fired while on the ground, striking one officer in the elbow and another in the abdomen; police recovered a Glock pistol with aftermarket `switch`.
  • All three officers were taken to hospital and later discharged; the two injured Fall River police officers had non-life-threatening wounds, and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office is investigating.
  • Fall River Police Chief Kelly Furtado said body-worn camera images show the encounter, and officials urged caution, with more details to be released soon.
