2 'lost' Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s to be made available in UK
Two 1960s Doctor Who episodes found in a private collection were restored by BBC Archives and will be available on BBC iPlayer from Good Friday.
- On Good Friday, the BBC will release two lost Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s. Previously thought to be missing, "The Nightmare Begins" and "Devil's Planet" will stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am.
- Leicester-Based charitable trust Film Is Fabulous! discovered the rare 16mm telerecordings in a private collection. BBC Archives then collaborated to restore the original footage to broadcast quality for public viewing.
- Titled "The Nightmare Begins" and "Devil's Planet," these episodes from The Daleks' Master Plan star William Hartnell as the First Doctor. The cast includes Peter Purves, Nicholas Courtney, Adrienne Hill, and Kevin Stoney.
- Viewers can access the restored content starting at 6am on Good Friday via BBC iPlayer. The release marks significant recovery for archives that suffered routine deletion during the 1960s.
- BBC Studios remains committed to the series' long-term future, with a new Christmas special confirmed for 2026. The project continues efforts to preserve the Time Lord's history for devoted fans.
