2 dead after a plane crashes into Ohio home
Federal investigators are reviewing flight data, witness statements and aircraft records after the crash killed both people aboard and forced nearby evacuations.
- On Thursday, a 1963 Piper Cherokee crashed into a home on Canterbury Circle in Akron, Ohio, killing two people on board. Police responded shortly before 4 p.m.
- Departing from Akron Fulton Airport approximately four miles east, the aircraft struck a home in the Coventry Crossing development. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
- Fire damage was visible on the residence after the impact, though no residents were injured. Akron Fire crews responded to heavy black smoke, and two homes were evacuated.
- Troopers, fire, and EMS personnel continue assessing the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated, 'The crash remains an active investigation,' urging residents to avoid the area.
