Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster Named Best of Show at the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
The rare supercharged Duesenberg was one of just two SSJs built and had been in one family for more than 60 years before Yeaggy bought it.
On Sunday, collector Harry Yeaggy of Cincinnati, Ohio, captured Best of Show at the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance with his 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster, receiving the top honor on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Originally owned by classic-era movie star Clark Gable, the 1935 vehicle is one of only two hotted-up, short-wheelbase supercharged Duesenberg SSJs, remaining in one family for over six decades before Yeaggy acquired it three years ago.
Judges selected the vehicle to fit the Concours' mission celebrating interwar classic vehicles, with Duesenberg's slogan being "The Mightiest Motorcar." Concours judge Ken Gross said "I honestly think this was the best gathering of cars we've had in my 36 years with the Concours."
Total donations from the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance surpassed $50 million, with the event serving as the traditional finale of Monterey Car Week drawing rare collector vehicles to the Monterey Peninsula.
Held on the Monterey Peninsula since 1950, the Concours celebrated its 75th edition in 2026, maintaining its position as one of the premier gatherings of historic automobiles in the world.
