- Police stated Cedillos-Campos and Puch worked at the same restaurant and maintained an intimate relationship. A jogger discovered her body Monday near her 2011 Honda Civic in the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike.
- Investigators allege Cedillos-Campos arrived Monday morning armed with a knife, gloves, and gasoline. He reportedly stabbed Puch repeatedly before unsuccessfully attempting to set her on fire at Difficult Run Park.
- Detectives apprehended Cedillos-Campos in Maryland within 48 hours of the death, aided by the U.S. Marshals Service and Prince George's County police. He offered a full confession during interviews.
- Puch was the mother of a 3-year-old girl. Federal sources allege Cedillos-Campos is from El Salvador and was in the country illegally.
