Gang Member Arrested in Arcadia Lake Mass Shooting that Killed 18-Year-Old; Police Say at Least One More Shooter Still at Large
Police said Jaylan Davis turned himself in after a warrant was issued, and investigators expect at least one more arrest in the gang-related shooting.
On Wednesday, May 6, Edmond police arrested 18-year-old Jaylan Davis in connection with a mass shooting at Arcadia Lake that killed Avianna Smith-Gray and injured 22 others.
The incident began at an unsanctioned party when a fight between two women escalated into a clash between rival gang members, with Davis identified as a primary aggressor who fired at least 80 rounds.
Witnesses described the gunfire as automatic, possibly from a Glock with a switch attached, and at least 23 people suffered gunshot injuries, including six juveniles as young as 15 years of age.
Chief Younger stated that Davis' arrest "is not the conclusion of the investigation," with authorities anticipating at least one more arrest while withholding specifics to protect the case.
In response to the violence, Edmond Mayor Darrell Davis said the city is reviewing policies and procedures, with City Council set to discuss improvements at their next meeting.
