Teen Arrested in Morgan Hill Party Shooting that Killed 1, Injured 6
Investigators said community tips and FBI support helped identify the suspect after the party shooting left 1 dead and 6 injured.
- On Thursday, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office arrested a 17-year-old Salinas resident in connection with the fatal July 25 shooting in unincorporated Morgan Hill, Calif., that killed one person and injured six others.
- The shooting occurred during a pop-up birthday gathering for a Twitch streamer attended by more than 300 people near Hale Avenue and Miramonte, where gunfire killed 18-year-old Desiderio "Desi" Romero V of San Jose.
- Community members submitted numerous tips, videos, and photos through the FBI digital media tip line, enabling investigators to serve a "high-risk search warrant" at a Salinas home and identify the suspect.
- Santa Clara County Sheriff Robert Jonsen thanked the public, saying their "willingness to speak up" and collaboration with law enforcement "has helped move this case closer to justice for the victims and their families."
- The suspect, whose name remains withheld due to their age, is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Monday at the Santa Clara County Juvenile Justice Courthouse in San Jose.
