Interior Health warned more than 200 private well users to watch for diesel impacts as provincial officials monitor the cleanup.
- On Tuesday, 15,000 litres of Diesel spilled at the Scotch Creek Co-op during a fuel delivery, with the transport company managing the ongoing cleanup operation.
- The Ministry of Environment and Parks received reports on Tuesday night and dispatched an officer on Wednesday to monitor response actions taken by the hired environmental consultant.
- Interior Health has issued a precautionary warning to more than 200 private well users south of Butters Road, Saratoga Road, and Kenwwod Gate to monitor their water.
- Anyone noticing a fuel odour or oily sheen should use an alternate water source for drinking, cooking, and bathing, as Diesel is detectable at very low concentrations.
- The responsible spiller is legally required to manage the cleanup, with the Ministry and Interior Health continuing to monitor the situation. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
