The MÁV group issued a statement. It stated that the complex investigation involving Volánbusz and its legal predecessors concerns a diverse group of cases related to the establishment and performance of suspected fraudulent legal relationships between 2015 and 2018, which caused a financial loss of around 10 billion forints to the company group and thus indirectly to the state.
Volánbusz – the legal predecessor of the current MÁV Passenger Transport Co. – suffered a financial loss of more than 10 billion forints due to suspected fraudulent contracts concluded between 2015 and 2018. The company's management terminated the agreements upon discovering the abuses and has been trying to recover the amount that damaged the state through legal means ever since.
According to the railway company, they have taken the necessary legal steps and terminated the affected contracts and suspended payments.
