55 years ago today, the Grateful Dead played their “Acid Punch Show” at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. 1,000 fans drank free apple cider that was being passed around, which turned out to be spiked with LSD. More than 30 of the concertgoers wound up in the hospital suffering from hallucinations. For many, the music never stopped.
